Welcome to our memorial page in partnership with Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP). Your memorial gift will support life-changing programs that empower, employ, and engage America’s injured veterans. Warriors and their families will never pay a penny for these services.

Jon Sams retired from the USAF after 21 years of dedicated service.  During his distinguished and honorable service, he was the recipient of more than 25 awards and commendations from the US Air Force, the Department of Defense and US State Department.  He was an accomplished high level administrator serving as the Senior Administrative Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon upon his retirement from the US Air Force. He then moved from Washington, DC to Colorado, the state where he was born. In Colorado, he began his work with the US Forest Service. He was promoted with the US Forest Service and moved to Prescott, Arizona where he was serving as the Administrative Officer for the Prescott National Forest.

He was also the loving father of two children, Kristee and Conner.  He was a wonderful husband and companion to his wife, Mary.  They shared their love of birds, flowers, nature and travel.  Together, they had many adventures. Jon and Mary hosted home concerts to raise money for Wounded Warriors in the past and it is an organization that Jon would be proud to continue to support, even in death.  He was passionate about his love for his country. Thank you for your generosity and for supporting the work of this important organization. Jon will be dearly missed.
